Welcome to the 2010 Monterey Bay Regional Business Plan Competition -- the first of many annual competitions planned for regional start-ups, students and emerging businesses. The winners will present their business plans to a panel of investors. Our partners are working to secure $50,000 in prizes and cash.
The 2010 Monterey Regional Business Plan Competition and our many regional partners look forward to producing a competition and supporting workshops that will help you hone your ability to analyze and describe your business concept, potential products and services, markets, marketing and sales, business organization and your financials in a way that will ensure the success of your dream business.
This business plan competition is a chance for regional start-ups and emerging companies to showcase their ideas and business concepts to regional and local angels and venture capitalists. The benefit to this is obvious -- potential capital investment. But it is the hope of the sponsors that as you develop your plan, you will learn vital information about your own company, as well as your potential markets. Let's just say, you will learn what you don't yet know you don't know. And that knowledge can be critical to the success of your company.
It is the hope of the universities, cities, agencies, non-profit and for-profit organizations supporting this program that the competition will become a tool to strengthen our regional start-ups and emerging businesses by providing you, the entrepreneurs, with the best foundation possible.
